Shakespeare is back… and things are not going according to plan.
In this bold, fast-paced comedy, some of Shakespeare’s most famous characters collide in a world where tragedy, romance and complete absurdity exist side by side. Presiding over the mayhem are three witches with strong opinions, questionable morals and absolutely no respect for the original script.
As scenes from Macbeth, Othello, Romeo & Juliet, and Hamlet unravel in unexpected ways, Shakespeare finds himself under increasing pressure from the very characters he created. The result is a hilarious clash between author and creation, fate and free will, and common sense and theatrical tradition.
Combining original Shakespearean text with contemporary humour, physical theatre, music and outrageous comedy, O Woe Is Me is both a celebration of the Bard and a playful interrogation of his greatest works.
Whether you’re a lifelong Shakespeare lover or someone who still has flashbacks of studying him at school, O Woe Is Me offers a fresh, funny and accessible take on some of the most famous stories ever written.

The characters of Romeo/Hamlet could be played by the same actor and also Macbeth/Othello by the same actor.
